This is a comprehensive trip that  explores Central Valley, Highlands, several active volcanoes, North-Central-South Pacific regions, north Caribbean coast, many kilometers of trails, main and country roads, with a max of 16 guests per trip.

This tour will be lead by a certified-equipped bilingual Travel Director accompanied by an experienced motor coach driver. 

The accomodation mentioned is a reference but those are the first option properties. 

The activities may take place on alternative schedules due to last minute events that could alter the itinerary.

DAY 1         Arrive San Jose / SJO Airport (3 nights)

Welcome to San Jose!

An airport representative will greet you at the SJO Airport and coordinate your transfer to the hotel (30 min drive)

DAY 2         Poas Volcano National Park & San José sightseeing 

First target of our trip is the: Poas Volcano, indeed it´s one of Costa Rica’s most iconic. Weather permitting, we will enjoy views of its impressive crater by taking a brief walk all the way to the viewpoint. After this excursion, we return to the capital city to get a glimpse of its colors and history.

DAY 3         Cloud Forest at Cerro de la Muerte 

Today we aim for the highest mountain ranges of the country, Talamanca Cordillera.

As we approach to our destination you will notice how weather and vegetation start changing, as we will be getting into the cloud forest area, this means it is time to delight with the vibrant colours of hummingbirds and the incredible views.

A walk thru this endangered habitat will show us a variety of endemic species of birds and centennial oaks.

DAY 4         San Jose - Tortuguero (2 nights)

After an early breakfast, you will cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park heading to the Costa Rican Caribbean side. The embarking point of Caño Blanco or Pavona, will be the entry to a journey through the protected wetlands. This afternoon we will visit the Tortuguero Village to learn more about the way of living the locals have.

DAY 5         Tortuguero National Park 

This morning onboard a roofless panga boat, we will explore the canals and streams of the park, looking for monkeys, toucans, sloths, basilisks and caymans... just to mention a few of the common animals that inhabit this incredible rain forest. A region that claims to be one of the rainiest and most diverse places of Costa Rica.

If you are here between July and September, take an optional night tour to see the sea turtles laying eggs on the beach.

DAY 6         Tortuguero – Arenal (2 nights)

Embark on a boat transfer back to Caño Blanco or Pavona and take the motorcoach to head to the country´s most famous volcano: Arenal.

Before the end of the day, you will be dipping your feet in the hot spring pools as you marvel at this colossal volcano (weather permitting).

DAY 7         Arenal Volcano area

Early hike through the Arenal Hanging Bridges Park to have an extraordinary treetops perspective of the rain forest.

This afternoon is free to enjoy one of the activities available in the area.

Tonight´s dinner is a special event that combines flavours, music and culture when Elieth´s opens the door of her home to us to get us immersed in the folklore of this northern region.

DAY 8         Arenal – Rincon de la Vieja area via Rio Celeste (2 nights)

After breakfast, we will start our journey to the North Pacific part of Costa Rica: the province of Guanacaste. On our road we will make a short deviation to the Tenorio Volcano National Park for a 2-hour hike to the famous Rio Celeste waterfall. On a clear day, this will be everyone´s favorite! 

The hike is moderately challenging but the jaw-dropping views of the blue-coloured waterfall are totally worth it.

On the way to the area of the massive Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, we will make a stop for lunch, and you will have the chance to enjoy superb views of the northwestern landscapes.

DAY 9         Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park

Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is full of wildlife, legends and geothermal features like boiling mud pots, steam vents, and fumaroles. During a morning 3.5 km loop hike at Las Pailas Trail at Rincón de la Vieja National Park, we will have an up-close experience with the power of nature. Followed by brief visit for lunch to the historical city of Liberia.

DAY 10       Rincon de la Vieja to Central Pacific region (2 nights)

It´s about time to go back to the coast, this time to the wonderful and always warm waters of the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

Shortly after the check in time, it will be time to feel the sand and wait for a majestic sunset to happen.

DAY 11       Carara National Park  

Enjoy the sounds of the forest during a nice walk this morning, Carara is a must-visit place that has the only transition forest in Central Pacific, resulting in incredible diversity of flora and fauna, where the convergence of species from dry and humid forests happens.

Afternoon, free to go to the beach or simply relax.

DAY 12       Central Pacific to South Pacific (3 nights)

Our next destination is Dominical, a small, laid-back beach town on Costa Rica’s southern Pacific Coast. Here, you will find thick jungle, great surfing waves, and just enough amenities to feel comfortable but not too touristy and a good option for people looking for wildlife and visit places off the beaten track. On the way there, we might as well stop and see the amazing beach and abundance of wildlife that have made Manuel Antonio National Park so popular.

DAY 13       Corcovado National Park 

Have a strong breakfast as you prepare to embark on a day trip full of nature and beauty to a national park that has been described as “one of the most biologically intense places on the planet”

Today we will experience the hidden gem of Costa Rica.

DAY 14       Dominical area 

Enjoy of a well-deserved resting day on the beach after exploring Costa Rican forests, volcanoes and amazing wildlife. However, if you care for optional activities, this region has amazing waterfalls like Nahuyaca, snorkeling trips or seasonal whale watching trips.

DAY 15       Transfer to SJO Airport

Adios to a wonderful experience, with thousands of pictures, new travel friends as we have enjoyed a comprehensive trip to an incredible tropical country.
